The incorporated village of Shoreham, and the hamlet of East Shoreham lie just east of Rocky Point, and west of Wading River. Farming families settled in the area back in 1671, and were guided by the local Indian tribes. Initially known as Long Chestnuts, the are was renamed Shoreham in 1906 and the village was incorporated in 1913.
